Key Benefits of Import Export Code (IEC)

Legal Permission for Import & Export

Expand Beyond Domestic Market

IEC enables businesses to explore global markets, reach new customers worldwide, and increase profitability through international trade.

Eligible for Export Incentives

Businesses with IEC can claim benefits under schemes like MEIS, SEIS, RoDTEP, duty drawback, EPCG and other export-linked subsidies.

Smooth Customs Clearance

IEC is required at every stage of customs clearance – shipment booking, documentation, port procedures and duty payment – ensuring hassle-free movement.

Low Ongoing Compliance

IEC is a one-time registration with lifetime validity and no monthly or annual returns. Only yearly online confirmation/update is required with DGFT.

Improved Credibility in Global Trade

IEC enhances trust with foreign buyers, suppliers, banks, freight forwarders and government authorities, improving brand image and negotiation power.

Support for Foreign Payments

IEC enables receipt of foreign currency payments via authorized banks under FEMA guidelines, ensuring secure and compliant transaction handling.

Gateway to E-Commerce Exports

IEC is required for selling globally through platforms like Amazon Global, Alibaba, Etsy, eBay, Meesho Export and more – opening new earning opportunities.
